November – December 2025 Newsletter International Day For People With Disabilities

International Day of People with Disability Marks a Call for Inclusion

The community joined millions around the world to recognise International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD), an annual United Nations-observed event promoting awareness, inclusion, and respect for people with disability.

IDPwD highlights the barriers many people with disabilities still face in everyday life, including access to education, employment, transport, and community spaces. The day encourages governments, organisations, and local communities to take practical steps to remove these barriers and create environments where everyone can participate equally.

While IDPwD raises important awareness, it also celebrates the achievements and contributions of people with disability across all areas of society. From sport and business to arts, leadership, and advocacy, people with disabilities continue to shape stronger and more diverse communities.

IDPwD serves as a reminder that building an accessible and inclusive society is not a one-day effort, but a year-round responsibility shared by all.

Solution Ideas Marks a Year of Growth, Inclusion, and Community Impact

Solution Ideas is celebrating a successful year of innovation and community support, marking its first full year as a registered company and solidifying its role as a growing leader in disability-inclusive services.

Founded on lived experience and the Social Model of Disability, Solution Ideas has focused on breaking down barriers and creating real opportunities for people with disability. Over the past year, the organisation has delivered a wide range of support, expanded programs, and strengthened its connection with the community.

A Year of Achievements

This year, Solution Ideas:

  • Supported individuals and families through person-centred Support Coordination and Recovery Coaching, helping participants navigate services, build independence, and access essential supports.
  • Expanded employment pathways through its Plus One (+ONE) employment model, offering flexible, inclusive job opportunities designed for people with disability.
  • Delivered mentoring and life-skills development, including confidence-building, work readiness, decision-making skills, community participation, and independence programs.
  • Strengthened advocacy, using lived experience to promote human rights, disability awareness, and inclusive decision-making across community and organisational sectors.
  • Created safe spaces for connection, hosting Inclusion Cafés, peer meet-ups, and social engagement events that reduce isolation and foster community belonging.
  • Provided consultancy and training to other organisations, helping improve accessibility, inclusive practice, and disability-informed service design.

With the majority of our team made up of people with disability, Solution Ideas models true inclusion from within—embedding lived experience into every layer of service delivery.

A Positive Impact on the Community

Over the past year, the organisation has helped dozens of individuals gain confidence, employment skills, increased independence, and stronger community connections. Their inclusion events have grown steadily, establishing a welcoming and reliable space for people to meet, learn, and share their stories.

Their unique lived-experience leadership model has also gained attention for its genuine, human-rights-based approach—empowering people to have a voice in their own support.

Looking Ahead

As Solution Ideas celebrates its first birthday, the organisation remains committed to growth, innovation, and strengthening opportunities for people with disability. Plans for the coming year include expanding employment programs, increasing social participation events, and continuing to build a community where people with disabilities are valued, included, and supported.

Solution Ideas enters its second year with strong momentum and a clear vision: a more inclusive society where people with disabilities can lead, contribute, and thrive.

To end things off for the year, We are proud to celebrate George Ayoub, recognised in the National Awards for Disability Leadership for his powerful work in Inclusion.
